![]() So why would you spend a lot on cutlery - isn’t an ordinary box you pick up from your local supermarket going to get the job done - well, yes and no.. Think of it, your mouth and finger tips are the most sensorily developed part of your body. Sensations from touch channel though your body and mind creating an emotional response. Great restauranteurs have learnt the art of elevating the dining experience. By offering diners high quality crockery and cutlery or (flatware) to use its proper name, it can change a good restaurant experience and into a great dining experience Having recently purchased a set of quality cutlery from Robert Welsh (www.robertwealch.com) I am definitely converted! Ok, so we may not use them on every occasion but just to make that mid week supper or a Sunday brunch feel a little more elevated try using some great designed pieces. It will make all the difference. The French has been dining this way for years, it is part of their culture. Spending time on their presentation, creating a welcoming experience and making a little go a long way. This often translates into enjoying a smaller portion as you also tap into your sense of touch. Remember in the words of Virginia Wolf from her text A Room of Ones Own. “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.”

In fact I get my inspiration from so many places.. By sharing these experiences and thoughts with you I hope to both educate and inform. Archives
