![]() Good and useful books on Interior Design are sometimes hard to find but this one I would definitely recommend. The title is Perfect Lighting by Sally Storey. The book sets out practical suggestions for lighting the home that moves away from the traditional. It looks at the use of light as washes up and down walls and targeting light to where it is most effective in a design scheme. She also talks about the importance of being able to have different lighting effects in a space with the use of dimmer switches and a variety of light sources. Known as one of the country's leading light specialists Sally Storey lectures at RIBA (Royal Institute of Architects) and has also appeared on BBC2 Home. Lighting is often an after thought or added on over the years, but along with space and how you intend using the space, lighting should be included in any foundation plans you have. Electric sockets need to be in the right place according to what functions will be carried out. Thought also needs to be given to areas that will suit individual illumination such as alcoves or art.
